It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Lewin on March 10, 2024. Richie was born in Toronto to parents Raymond and Doreen Lewin. He passed away at the age of 68 while doing a puzzle, an activity that he loved.
He is predeceased by his beloved parents and his brother Gary. He is survived by his lifelong partner, Debra West, and his siblings, Terri (Bill), Danny (Allison), Jamie (Ruth), and Jaci (Brady). Loving father to Jason (Diana), Tara (Keith), Pamela (Phil), Shane (Kristen), Lisa (Matt) and Angie (Andrew). Cherished and involved Papa to Greg, Geena, Lucas, Ethan, Cai, Izaya, Carson, Avery, Quinn, Kate, Drew, Soren and Kyla.
Richie is fondly remembered by his large extended family and his many, many friends and teammates.
He had a knee slapping laugh that everybody will remember. He loved having company and welcomed so many into his home with kindness. He loved hockey, whether it was playing with his red helmet in the old timers league, watching his children and grandchildren or watching the Leafs. He loved boating and fishing, spending his early life growing up on Lake of Bays and later enjoying all the lakes in Huntsville and surrounding areas. Many father-son fishing trips will be fondly remembered. He also loved golf, wood work, social gatherings, his garage, and being outdoors.
Richie had a lifelong career in carpentry, building custom homes throughout Muskoka. His last project was building his son's dream home. He was passionate about building projects and spent a lot of his time creating sheds, birdhouses, gazebos, chairs, and so much more.
Richie will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Canvas Brewery in Huntsville on Saturday, March 23, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m., with a service at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice Huntsville or Jumpstart.
